The rehabilitation of the Historic Colonial Hotel will provide local entrepreneurs with a number of unique business opportunities. In addition to the area’s expanding local market, Meyersdale is located along the Great Allegheny Passage, a hike-bike trail joining Pittsburgh to Cumberland, Maryland. The Colonial Hotel is situated on Main Street, along the thoroughfare connecting the trail to downtown. The historic building will provide an elegant yet cozy place to spend a night, dine, or shop. Bed and Breakfast/Inn

The New Colonial Hotel rehabilitation could include a small number of short-stay suites. Opportunities would be available for a bed-and-breakfast manager or innkeeper. Rooms would feature historic finishes, including original windows, trim, and plumbing fixtures.

Restaurant

The hotel features a 1,200-square-foot dining room with historic finishes, including hardwood floors, murals, a fireplace, and coffered ceilings. Additional dining could be accommodated on the large, second-story balcony overlooking Main Street. The kitchen could be built-to-suit.

Events Center

The Historic Colonial Hotel could provide a 1,200-square-foot ballroom with historic finishes. Additional meeting spaces could be provided on the main floor. These rooms could be combined with the ballroom for a combined event space of approximately 2,200 square feet. In addition, the building could feature porch and sidewalk seating, as well as a large, second-story balcony.

Catering

In combination with the events center, the New Colonial Hotel could provide opportunities for caterers in the Meyersdale area. The structure could include an all-new, 600-square-foot kitchen with loading dock.

Coffee Shop/Internet Cafe

The hotel's east parlor could be adapted into a coffee shop/internet cafe. It would consist of a 550-square-foot dining area with historic finishes, including an elegant fireplace. The room would have large windows overlooking Main Street, with easy access to porch and sidewalk dining. In addition, an elegant tearoom could be opened on the second floor, providing access to the large balcony overlooking Main Street. The kitchen could be combined with the catering kitchen. High-speed DSL is available in this area.

Retail Space

The Historic Colonial Hotel could offer retail space on both the main level and the lower level. Both floors can be accessed directly from Main Street. These spaces could be built to suit in any size or format.

Gallery

The Historic Colonial Hotel, particularly the lower level, could provide unique gallery space for exhibiting for sale local arts and crafts. The gallery space could be as much as 2,000 square feet.
